Content Blocks are a key component of Facilitator Guides.

Content Blocks “chunk” your learning material into specific actions:

  • to make it easy for the facilitator to follow

  • by providing “at a glance” direction for the live delivery

Every Content Block is comprised of three key elements and an optional fourth:

  1. A Visual Cue

  2. A Headline

  3. Complete & concise Instructions

  4. A Note with Additional Information

Content Blocks are easy to use.

By consistently using the same icons for specific actions:

  • Facilitators know at a glance what they are to do

  • Developers (like you) can efficiently extract content for Participant Guides

  • You can feel confident that nothing has been missed because every Content Block of the types you select for Extract will be included in your Participant Guide

To identify the NAMES of the Content Block types you want to Extract

Check Block with style name
  • Place your cursor in the first cell of a Content Block

  • Look in the Styles box in the Text and Table Formatting group to see the Content Block name

  • All Content Block names start with zLGPIcon followed by the Block name

    • You don’t need to remember the zLGPIcon part

    • All you need is the Block name that follows zLGPIcon

When you Extract a Participant Guide:

  • You be be asked to select the Content Block types to Extract

  • Choose the Content Blocks you have designated to hold Participant content

    • For example: Handout blocks & Key Points blocks

  • For the occasional scenario where a Content Block type that you designated for facilitator-only content has content you want to extract into your Participant Guide:

    • You can Mark it for Selective Extract and it will be included when you run the extract for your Participant Guide.

Simply click the Content Block type you need and it will be inserted onto your Lesson page in your Facilitator Guide.
