Pro Doc: All Fields

 

Use All Fields to do in one click what otherwise would take a bunch of clicks to refresh all document fields individually.

All you have to is click on All Fields

From anywhere in the document regenerate your document’s Table of Contents and refresh any other fields in your document.

About All Fields

Fields in Word documents are automated controls that provide a tremendous amount of functionality.

Most all documents use them, you just might not know they exist because many are hidden.

 
 

For example, these items in a Word document use fields:

  • Table of Contents
  • List of Figures
  • Table of Authorities
  • Automatic date fields
  • Automatic page numbering

Without fields, Word loses much of its automated functionality.

This Update All Fields function allows you to do in one click what otherwise would take a bunch of clicks to refresh all document fields individually. 

 

This little feature is so handy that you might want to include it on your Quick Access Toolbar.

 

In Word go to File > Options > Quick Access Toolbar

 

In the “Choose commands” area use the drop down menu select All Commands.

 

Then scroll down until you find Update All Fields.

 

Select it and click on Add to add it to your Quick Access Toolbar. Now it’s really, really easy to access!
