Successful Users Do These Things

Set your default user preferences and follow a few best practices to leverage the productivity gains LeaderGuide Pro provides.

Customizing your Software

Do your customizing once and always start from your branded templates. Create as many custom collections as you need.

Getting Organized

Building a facilitator guide requires thinking through your flow and organizing your source files so they are easy to work with.

Building Your First Leader Guide

Here are the fundamentals. You can follow these same steps to build your first participant guide if that's all you need.

Document Parts: What they Are and How to Work with Them

Every LeaderGuide Pro facilitator guide and participant guide is built from document parts. They help structure your document and organize your content.

Styles: Recognizing and Working with Them

Recognizing and understanding how to work with the LGPro Styles is key to using LeaderGuide Pro successfully. While styles are handled automatically, there are a few things to understand.

LGPro Modules and Lessons
Adding and Working with Them

Modules and lessons are the heart and soul of any facilitator or participant guide. They provide the structure upon which your entire training program is built.

LGPro Librarian
Archive, Insert, Reorder and
Delete Modules and Lessons

Librarian is a unique LeaderGuide Pro feature that allows you to archive (save) modules and lessons as stand-alone files, insert archived modules into your guidebooks, re-order modules and lessons to create new guidebooks, and delete modules and lessons. It is a game-changer for controlling and managing big chunks of content efficiently.

LGPro Content Blocks
Adding and Working with Them

Content blocks build the lesson pages in your facilitator guides and participant guides. They chunk and present content visually. They help you the developer establish and maintain a logical flow. And they help the instructor the same way musical notes help a musician.

LGPro Text/Table Formatting Tools

Because styles are so important to the way LeaderGuide Pro works it makes sense to learn how to use the LGPro Text and Table formatting tools.

LGPro Document Level Controls

Updating the Table of Contents, generating the Training at a Glance, navigating to specific locations in your files, importing and updating slides and images, exporting content, extracting new guidebooks from existing ones... All of these tasks are automated when using LeaderGuide Pro.

Unique automation functionality

LeaderGuide Pro Plus makes fast work of all the tedious but necessary tasks you otherwise need to do manually as you build facilitator and participant guides. Import, re-size, and replace PowerPoint, Keynote, and pictures. Extract participant guides from facilitator guides. Sync content between documents.

Working with Sides and Notes to Build a Facilitator Guide

LeaderGuide Pro transforms how you work with PowerPoint. Import slides, slide notes, even the text on the slides. Create PowerPoint sides from within your leader guide. Replace imported slides after changes are made to your PowerPoint file.

Pictures (image files)
Working with Them

LeaderGuide Pro works with pictures in way that is similar to slides, making it easy to bring in multiple images and replace images when they change.

Resize Images
Adjusting Imported Pictures and PowerPoint Images

The LeaderGuide Pro Special Resize (all or selective) Images function resizes multiple images, both PowerPoint and picture images, that are contained in LGPro blocks. The resize percentage is based on 100 percent of the fixed cell width.

LGPro Extract
Creating New Guidebooks from Existing

One of the amazing time-saving features of LeaderGuide Pro Plus is the ability to extract new guidebooks from existing LGPro files.

Extract Cases, Assessments and
or any Selected Content

It's easy to extract content from a LeaderGuide Pro file into a new Word document.

Show/Hide Icons and Content Blocks

The Special Show/Hide function works like a toggle switch and uses Word's Hidden Characters functionality to perform two important tasks for you.

After you have extracted a participant guide from a facilitator guide you may make changes to content in one document that you want updated in the other. The Sync function handles that for you. You can also sync page number references between a participant guide and a facilitator guide.

To Build Stand-alone Modules and Lessons

Attach sets up LeaderGuide Pro Modules and Lessons outside of the full LGPro guidebook document structure for those times when you need to focus on just one topic. And it allows you to work in smaller files. Once built, Modules and Lessons are easily integrated into full LGPro facilitator guides and participant guides using LGPro Librarian. This approach to building content is great for development projects with multiple contributors.

To Convert Existing Content

Attach allows two types of conversions. Attach will change the LGPro Collection in use to transform an existing LGPro document. Attach also enables the LGPro ribbon buttons for use in an existing source document so that you can move the content into LGPro Modules and Lessons and Content Blocks.

The Librarian Registry
Create Records of your
Training Programs, Modules and
Lessons in Excel

This function feeds information about your facilitator and participant guides, and your archived modules and lessons, into an automated Excel workbook. From Excel you can export the data to other databases you may already be using.

Time Tracking

The new time tracking function allows you to add time per Lesson and even time per Content Block. The times you add are rolled up by clicking the TAG button.

george! ribbon in PowerPoint

Your george! software is designed to be customized. The User function allows you to set global preferences for the Word documents george! will create, including adding your logo and copyright information.

The george! Stats function scans your open PowerPoint file and displays counts of everything in your file including the number of slides, word counts, and counts of the number of each type of insertable object that might be on your slides, such as charts, tables, comments etc. It is very easy to use this handy function.

george! will extract anything from an open PowerPoint file into a Word document, including the text on the slides, the slide notes, SmartArt, etc. And george! gives you control over what you extract, the file type of extracted images, and the PPI of extracted images.

The george! Convert functions assist you in converting formatted text from all or selective PowerPoint slides in an open file. The formatted text is placed into a specially marked Word document where you can alter the text. george! will then import the altered text back into the PowerPoint file. This is a great tool for translating text and maintaining the text’s original formatting in the PowerPoint slide.

The george! Import Pics function imports multiple image files into your open PowerPoint file, and unlike PowerPoint george! distributes your images across as many slides as required. george! gives you control over the layout of the slides your imported images will be added to and control over the insertion type, including the option to insert as Linked and Embedded so that your images will update automatically when you make changes to the image files.

Having linked images in a presentation file saves file size, but when you change the image's directory location or email the file to someone else, those links are broken and an “X” replaces the image in your slides. With george! your image links can quickly be fixed by correcting the linked folder path or changing the type of link on the images.

The george! Save Pics function creates picture image files from embedded pictures, charts, tables and SmartArt graphics in an open PowerPoint file. It will also create picture files of the entire slide. The extracted images are saved in a sub-folder of the current directory.

Use the george! Generate Alt Text function to add or edit Alt Text in an open PowerPoint file, for screen readers and 508 compliance. This is about associating text with the images on your slides. george! uses the information it already has on “non-text” embedded objects to automatically generate alternate text titles and descriptions. And gives you the ability to quickly edit the Alt Text to improve it.

The george! Add Markers function is a fast, visual method for adding Level 1 and Level 2 TOC markers to the slides in your open PowerPoint file that mark the start of new topics and new sub-topics. hes markers are used to generate a Table of Contents in your george! documents and also in LeaderGuide Pro documents that are built by importing PowerPoint files marked by george!

The george! Erase All function removes all TOC markers in the open PowerPoint file.

The george! Create function is what george! is all about. Use Create to quickly and easily generate branded, formatted Word documents from your PowerPoint files. Use george! documents as speaker notes and as handouts to support PowerPoint-driven presentations.

The george! Act'n DeAct function provides options to check your software version, check for updates, purchase a license, and of course activate and deactivate your george! software.

The george! Customizing Styles function opens a Style Guide that contains the Word paragraph styles used by george! when creating documents for you. You can modify the george! Style Guide to meet your requirements so that when you Create new george! documents your styles are applied.

HELP: v7.0
