Raise your hand if you’ve had the experience of sharing a document with linked images only to discover that the recipients see little red Xs in the spots where the images are supposed to be?

Links break when you move the images to a different folder, or change the folder name, or when you share the file with someone outside your organization. Those red Xs are the unhappy result.

AuthorTec Link helps you fix broken picture links quickly.

With AuthorTec Link you can:

  • Change the links on all or selected pictures at once.

Which is better, linked images or embedded?

There are pros and cons to both approaches.

  • Linked images reduce file size. They also provide the benefit of automatically updating documents when changes are made to the images.

  • However, picture links are easily broken, resulting in the pictures not displaying, whereas embedded images are safely stored in the document and always show.

  • If file size is an issue, linked is the way to go. However, if you are going to be sharing your files with those who do not have access to the server where your images are saved to, embedded is a must.

A good compromise is to do your work in a file with linked images and then change the linked images to either Embedded or Linked and Embedded before you release it to share broadly with others. Luckily, AuthorTec Change Picture Links makes this easy to do.
