Install GOT-UR-BACK 

 
 

Open Word

 
 

 You will see the User Preferences dialog box.

 
 

Set the number of back up copies you would like for Word and Excel on your PC or Mac. And for PowerPoint on your PC. 

You can set your preferences for each program differently. 

You have the option of saving up to 5 back-ups of your files for each Microsoft program. 

To disable Got-Ur-Back for any of the Microsoft programs simply click "No" in the User Preferences dialog.

 
 

 

The GOT-UR-BACK

Use this dialog to set your protection requirements for each Office application. By default GOT-UR-BACK starts out as enabled for Word, PowerPoint and Excel, set to save 3 levels of back up for each program. 

In the Office for the Mac versions, which are Office 2011 and Office 2016 for the Mac, GOT-UR-BACK cannot be enabled for PowerPoint.

 

 

 

To enable or disable Got-Ur-Back

Click "Yes" to enable. Click "No" to disable.
Set individual preferences for Word, Excel and PowerPoint.


 

To change the number of back-ups saved 

Type in a number between 1 and 5
Set individual preferences for Word, Excel and PowerPoint.


 

How to use Got-Ur-Back

Enable GOT-UR-BACK in the User Preferences dialog box.
 

  1. Click Save in the file you are working on.

 


 

How to find your Got-Ur-Back files on a PC

Go to the folder where the file you are working in resides.

  1. Open the sub-folder labeled “ZappsPro-backup
     
  2. You will see each prior version of the file is labeled with a numbered extension.
     
  3. Open the files like any other file.

 


 

How to find your Got-Ur-Back files on a Mac

In Office 2011 for the Mac:

  1. Go to the folder where the file you are working in resides.
     
  2. Open the sub-folder labeled “GOT-UR-BACK
     
  3. You will see each prior version of the file is labeled with a numbered extension.
     
  4. Open the files like any other file.
 

In Office 2016 for the Mac:

  1. Click on the GUB Files button on the GUB tab on the Office 2016 for the Mac ribbon.
     
  2. This will take you to a separate directory where GOT-UR-BACK places your files.

 


 

How To change your preferences

Use your computer's Start button to find GOT-UR-BACK in the list of Programs or Apps. 
 

  1. Click on GOT-UR-BACK to open the User Preferences dialog box
     
  2. Set your preferences and click OK

If you change your preferences often, you may want to pin the User Preferences dialog box to your Start menu or task bar.


 

How Got-Ur-Back works

After the very first time you Save a
new file and each time you click save...

 GOT-UR-BACK moves your last version of the file to a folder labeled “ZappsPro-backup". Conveniently, this folder resides in the same directory folder of the file you are editing. Each prior version of the file is labeled with a numbered extension. Mac users, see info above about how to find your back ups.

Remember

GOT-UR-BACK only protects you when YOU click SAVE.

 

 


 

GOT-UR-BACK does not:

  1. Protect template file formats including...
    DOT, DOTX, DOTM, XLT, XLTX, XLTM, POT, POTX, and POTM.
     
  2. Create automatically timed backups of the file you are editing. 
     
  3. Run with PowerPoint in Office 2011 or Office 2016 for the Mac
